I collaborated once again, with Johnny Rodger on this first full-length study of the work of James Kelman through the perspective of his political commitments and activism.

Besides numerous novels including the Booker Prize winning How Late it was, How Late, Kelman has published two volumes of often controversial, literary, social, historical and political criticism. The book came together through analysing these works, but also exclusive access to lost footage of the writer’s activism, including the 1990 conference he organised in Govan – guest of honour being Noam Chomsky.
